The Martingale

Site-specific photographic installation, Brome Fair, Eastern Townships, Quebec, Canada, 2016

The Martingale is a series of large format photographs presented on the 160th anniversary of the Brome Fair. The work focuses on the relationship that breeders have with the animals they raise and exhibit. During the regional event, the animals are cleaned, brushed, dyed, shaved, held still in front of the judge, photographed and paraded. Horses, cows, sheep and farmyard animals are brought together in the heat of late summer.
