Orford, Insular Territory

Thames Art Gallery (curated by Carl Lavoy), Chatham, Ontario, Canada, 2014

Orford: Insular Territory presents a two-channel video installation that explores the dual vocation of the Parc national du Mont-Orford and circumscribes this shared territory. A series of nine photographs were taken on the same site, at a time when the provincial government, led by the Liberal Party of the day, was seeking to dismantle parts of the park. The project also presents a sound recording of a conference by art historian and alpinist Benedicte Fullalove (ACAD), an artist’s book by Colette Laliberté (OCAD) and archival materials from the SOS Parc Orford Coalition. A hike open to the public took place on the Mont Orford site in the context of the work.
